Unite your whole self in your yoga work.
This 3 month specialized training will help you eliminate the guesswork of “doing it right” (teaching yoga through a social justice lens) plus 1:1 time with me and a conversation on the different styles of activism with a Palestinian American activist.
If you are a teacher who is committed to serving your students and our world, but know you want the tools and resources to feel confident that you are wielding this important work with the utmost care and responsibility this program will provide you with a fully embodied curriculum to give you support for your mind, body, and spirit as you fulfill your purpose of unifying your yoga with your social justice activism.
It’s one of the most unique and customized programs in the world doing this work with you.
Unite your whole self in your yoga work.
What you’ll gain:
Mind: Dismantle Perfectionism and get the most comprehensive Cultural Appropriation education available in yoga. Learn and converse with activists doing the work on the ground and in their communities. Invest in the education you need to trust how you show up in these sensitive and important times.
Body: Practice what you preach through a 3 month series of Slow Poses and Philosophy. Understand then feel into what yoga philosophy and the guiding principles of leading movement organizers say about the work.
Spirit: Nourish your whole self and find harmony in your work by no longer code switching for the people and places ruled by dominant culture norms. Free your spirit from the chains of a normative and restrictive fitness industry and be in community with other authentic seekers.
The value of this program (3 comprehensive webinar workshops, 1 ticket to Community Hour with a Palestinian-American activist/writer, 1:1 mentorship call with Tejal, 3 months of membership at Tejal Yoga) is truly unique and is unrivaled with any investment you might make at another yoga studio. This is the program designed to unify your purpose, passion, and activism with living your yoga.

Reserve My Spot
The issues with most continuing education yoga programs is that they don’t even touch the concept of social justice (honestly, many yoga schools only have these programs to make themselves quick cash without even assessing if anyone really evens need the info they’re providing - do we really need more advanced vinyasa trainings?!), let alone offer you such detailed and targeted embodied education and offerings.
I’ve spoken to enough yoga teachers, around the world, to know that what you’re seeking to learn is not really being offered in a space near you, and even if some mentoring is available, it isn’t as intersectional as this program, if at all.
This program is tailored to you - the yoga teacher looking to meet the moment, as it is.
YOU LOVE YOGA because of what it means to you, that doesn’t mean you want to change it, sterilize it, and water it down to make it studio compliant. You want to live your yoga authentically while disrupting cultural norms and systemic inequities but you have a ton of questions, and that’s completely normal. We all need support.

Who is this program for?
This program is for the yoga teacher who is ready to meet the moment we’re in, the teacher who is ready to lead, create and make space for others in times of crises.
You’re the teacher that has (justifiably strong) feelings about the current state of the world. You also want to use your power responsibly.
You’re wondering:
Am I the right person to do this work? I’ve always wanted to teach this way, how can I?
How do I talk about this with my students in a value-aligned way?
How can I show up on social media, in the studio and in my life in a way that supports the causes that are near and dear to me and protects my nervous system?
Should I be doing more? Am I doing enough? How could I be doing more? I feel burnt out and I haven’t done enough already…how do I stop the shame spiral?

You can expect embodied results:
-
Whether that looks like finally moving forward with the programs and classes that live only inside your head, or simply understanding where your perfectionism comes from and why, you’ll leave this program with a clearly outlined path to be the teacher you’ve always dreamed of being.
-
With Slow Poses & Philosophy practice you will first check in with community members, learn about philosophy that supports a hatha-inspired approach to yoga as well as movement work in times of crisis.
-
With Act Against Appropriation you will finally understand in detail all of the harms of cultural appropriation including historical and political context that will change the game on how you practice with you teach.
-
Develop your own process to address the times we live in and offer practices that support your local justice-focused community.

Dismantling Perfectionism in you and yoga workshop:
Sunday, August 3rd 9 AM - 1 PM PT
This workshop will offer you the background and utility of perfectionism, the ways it works to move you from your greatest alignment and fulfillment. You will be asked for your introspection and thoughtfulness in understanding how patterns and behaviors in life and yoga practice affect your well being. By the end of our time together you will understand how perfectionism is holding you back.
“I loved the comics and I really appreciated diving deep on the images. Getting to discuss how we all perceive them brought a lot of insight. I also felt supported with the resources from the Gita and Sutras.
The connection to the reel of my own life as it connects to perfectionism (as a social justice issue & white supremacist culture) has been so eye opening. It brings an awareness that I know will help continue to guide my journey.”
Act Against Appropriation workshop, a Yoga is Dead training
Sunday, August 17th 9 AM - 1 PM PT
In this signature Yoga is Dead workshop, we’ll explore the harmful impacts of cultural appropriation through a combination of story-telling, current events, and self inquiry. We’ll go deep into:
What is Cultural Appropriation?
Why does it matter in yoga?
How does cultural appropriation cause harm?
What meaningful actions can I take as a true accomplice?
Through a mix of discussion and lecture, we’ll explore the interconnectedness of appropriation, race, power, personal attachments & the roots of yoga. You’ll walk away with more in-depth knowledge and guidelines for on-going action as a means to right the wrong of appropriation.
“Genuine and heart-felt thanks for creating a space (even virtually!) that made learning, processing, voicing, and respectful witnessing simultaneously possible. I was really amazed at what came out of that balance between the structure and the free reflection periods. An incredible group and incredible facilitators! Looking forward to continuing reflection after the fact and staying connected.
So You Want to Chant Om and Namaste
Sunday, September 28 9 AM - 1 PM PT
Learn about the roots and uses of these two words, and the issues and concerns about their use in Yoga and wellness spaces. Explore chanting Om, learn alternative phrases to share what you really mean and ideate your own authentic messages.
In this workshop you'll:
Gain knowledge of what spiritual words and mantras really mean
Become excited to explore and share with the world what you've learned!
Grow ready to lead your practices with wisdom-led authenticity
“Very heavy topic… But so Important…because of climate here and in the States, it took me a back a bit…naively felt my yoga was a refuge and ‘safer space’….Was not aware of the issues faced (bans etc). Though should not have been surprised at all.”
